Technology today is changing our everyday lives, and the field of dentistry is constantly evolving and improving to better serve your needs.  With today’s technology, dentists are better equipped to detect and treat tooth decay and perform dental procedures with maximum comfort.  Cutting-edge innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less discomfort and creating satisfying results.

Digital Dentistry

One breakthrough instrument, called CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing), allows dentists to quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving patients time and inconvenience.

How does the CAD/CAM system work?

Our CAD/CAM system incorporates a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. We use a special camera to take an accurate picture of your damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where we’ll use CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. Finally, we bond the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

What does this innovation mean for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. We no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated, which means your damaged tooth can be replaced in one short visit!

X-Ray System

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays are faster and contain less radiation than traditional X-Rays. When a patient has a digital X-Ray done, the image appears on the computer in a matter of seconds. Dr. Galaif can then zoom in to the image to better assess and educate you regarding your oral health. This high-performance technology is also environmentally friendly (no more film or chemicals) and allows instant viewing of your teeth, which helps to eliminate treatment disruptions.

Accucam System

Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera is a wand-like device that projects a magnified picture from a patient’s mouth onto a screen. The image allows both the dentist and patient to see fractured teeth, receding gums, and broken restorations. Dr. Galaif uses the intraoral camera to gain precise and well-defined pictures of hard to see places within your mouth.

Invisalign Clear Braces

Invisalign®

Invisible braces are ideal for adults that desire straight teeth without the inconvenience of wearing heavy, metal braces. The Invisalign® system creates impressions of your teeth, then your images are scanned by a computer to produce sets of clear plastic aligners that gently straighten your teeth. The aligners provide an effective and comfortable way to straighten your smile, are easy to take out for cleaning, and don’t require a restriction on what type of foods to eat. The Wand System

The Wand®

At Dr. Daniel N. Galaif we ensure you will be as comfortable as possible using the computer-assisted anesthesia tool, The Wand®, a computerized anesthetic device that painlessly numbs your teeth without numbing your lip and tongue. You can have your dentistry performed, and be able to talk and eat soon afterward.

Air Abrasion System

Air Abrasion

The air abrasion system uses a stream of powder to remove decay quickly and comfortably, without the use of a drill. With air abrasion, discomfort is minimized and many patients do not need any anesthesia. Children and adults who are fearful of needles, noise or the vibration of a regular dental hand piece may prefer this option.

Sleep Dentistry

Does the thought of having your teeth cleaned or worked on cause you stress? You are not alone, a lot of people have anxiety when they have to go to the dentist. Using an anesthesiologist to monitor and administer anesthesia allows the dentist to perform all of your dentistry in one visit. This is very beneficial for patients who fear dental procedures or experience anxiety while sitting in the dental chair.

CaraVu Transillumination System-Daniel N. Galaif, D.D.S.-Encino Dentist

CariVu®

This exciting new technology uses transillumination, by hugging the tooth and bathing it with a safe light, allowing the dentist to detect fractures and decay that cannot be seen with x-rays. This technology can replace x-rays in some instances and therefore reduce the radiation exposure to the patient. CariVu® Illumination is able to show problems in the early stages, which allows less invasive dental procedures to be performed.
